ccac

survey

First, I created posters to leave around the CCA campuses that asked a simple question: what do you love about the Oakland campus?

design

At first, I had planned on typing out all the responses but I loved the drawings people put and the individuality of the handwriting, so I instead decided to trace all of the responses.

screen print

I used one of my favorite techniques, which involved taking actual plants from the campus and directly using them to burn the screen.

what do you love about the oakland campus?

This zine displays the different reasons people love California College of the Arts' Oakland campus. With the future closing of that campus and a move to all San Francisco only, a number of issues and concerns have been brought about, such as accessibility, affordability, history, and overall atmosphere. One of the biggest aspects of the Oakland campus that makes it special is the nature. Using plants on campus to directly expose my screens, this zine shows a few of the reasons we love the Oakland campus.

With the closing of the Oakland campus, a number of issues and concerns have been brought about, many intertwined with the topic of CCAC. With the dropping of "Crafts" in our school's title and moving to SF both imply a growing focus on design, leaving many worried about the future of Oakland-based fine arts majors. Along with those issues are concerns of affordability, history, and overall atmosphere. This zine shows a few of the things we love about the Oakland campus.
